6B students build a Google Tour using the Travel Lists that they put together in class.
Students in Mrs. Sturtevant’s reading class recently finished the novel Escape from Warsaw by Ian Serraillier. The main characters in the novel traveled across Europe in hopes of reuniting their families. As students read, they kept a list of places the characters visited. Using Google Tour Builder, a part of Google Earth, students then created a map with pin point locations that represented the journey taken in the book. Tour Builder allows the user to type in a place and mark it on the map. Students were then able to move the markers if necessary, and add commentary and photographs of the different locales. Using free google photographs, students found images of the places from the 1940’s that corresponded with the time of the book’s setting.
